enclosed patio
This enclosed patio needed more seating space and a touch of coherent style; we custom-made a generous sofa in outdoor fabric and a blanket box which doubles as seating and storage, added bespoke nested tables in steel, oak and glass, some indoor plants, objet and a "window frame" mirror. And all of that brought together with a striking outdoor rug from Hertex Fabrics and some accent scatters. Now this patio space is ready to live summer properly!

covered patio

With so much sunshine and brilliant weather for most of the year, here in SA; outdoor living spaces become extensions of your home!
Here's a patio transformation that we made happen for a client in Joburg.
Much needed storage space was added in below these counters; our custom cabinetry team made space for a pull-out dustbin, deep drawers for charcoal and firelighters (which always look a sight!), glassware and
platters and of course, a gorgeous wine fridge. We then sourced some stylish, wipeable and comfy chairs for around the table which we then covered with a tablecloth made from this all-weather outdoor fabric, so
that it won't ever fade. Some oversized candle lanterns completed the table look. They were also desperate for a comfortable seating space so we sourced a fully outdoors seating set which we styled with waterproof feather scatters. This set was placed ontop of a stylish outdoor rug (fade proof and super easy to keep clean)
This covered patio space got direct afternoon sun so we had custom awnings made to fit the necessary openings, protecting the area for sun, wind and even rain.
After we'd worked our magic, this family almost live outside and thoroughly enjoy entertaining guests in their transformed space.

These clients wanted to do just that and invited me and my team to transform their under-utilised patio space:
the covered area was awkward for furniture placement and their exposed braai area rendered itself useless during bad weather. There were strange pillars cutting off certain areas, the bricks were dated and it was crying out for a (House)lift.
Our team set to work by ripping out the old roof structure and installing an extended version with a ceiling and LED downlighters. The brick paving was ditched and replaced with a fabulous terrazzo-look outdoor tile (locally produced and very well priced!) Our
tiler had the patience of a saint cutting all the curved edges We cut some of the shrubbery and trees and used up garden space to make way for a much wider seating area. The old braai area was entirely scrapped and we built a new built in braai area which now houses their gas braai and pizza oven. We added a counter/bar area and a serving ledge; perfect for entertaining.
A multi-purpose wash trough was installed behind the counter area which is ideal for washing hands and accessing water whilst entertaining.
To combat windy and rainy days we installed transparent drop down awnings which allow this family to enjoy the space come rain or shine, without disturbing the view of their lush garden.

patio renovation
These long-standing clients had an under-utilised, vacant raised area at the bottom of their garden which they wanted turned into an entertainment area. Team Houselift were given a tight deadline to have it all completed for a very special birthday celebration and we rose to the challenge. We compacted and leveled out the site, built benches and a server table, a staircase and tiled it all with a gritty outdoor tile (which even the dogs approved of!) We decided to add a wash trough to the side of the server to cater for dirty hands and braai grids. I sourced some outdoor light fittings, added a few extras to the wall and everything was set for a party! A large outdoor table and movable firepit arrived just in the nick of time. These chuffed clients sent me this note: “Thanks so much Ingrid!!!! We appreciate your excellent service, advice and always delivering on time and to the best quality!!!!” There’s nothing lovelier than another happy client (and being sent photos of the rip-roaring party that ensued)
