PROJECT ONE
There isn’t always budget for brand new key pieces of furniture, and being the eternal realist, I often suggest upcycling items. For this client, we painted her dining table; the size worked so well and the cost to paint and finish with a piece of glass was a fraction of what a new one would have cost. Her dining chairs had their backs cut down to give them a more up-to-date look, legs were sprayed and finally upholstered in a gorgeous charcoal patterned velvet. The original rug had had it’s day and was replaced with a bigger and more practical outdoor rug (also perfect for indoor use with kids and pets). The fireplace chimney got a hollow clock which worked perfectly above a few object which completed the floating shelf. As a permanent and stylish centerpiece, I had this faux orchid arrangement made up in a silver champagne bucket. The coffee station at the end of the area was given an oomph with a few large jugs, greenery and then my favourite bit; some styling help.
The end result was fantastic; I think the before and after pics say it all. As does the message from this chuffed client “Thanks for everything Ingrid. Have had so many people say how lovely the house is looking.”
